Johnny Rajoo saw the melting effect of climate change in the Canadian Rockies

My visit  to Canada exposed me to the destructive effects of global warming on our planet. Canada is a dream destination for real nature lovers and ambitious outdoor explorers.

Flanking the province Alberta's western border with its rugged mountain peaks and ranges, the Canadian Rockies are home to alpine meadows, blue water lakes, wild waterways, back country wilderness and some of the best hiking and skiing venues in the world. I visited the famous Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, as well as numerous other provincial parks and recreation areas.

Having travelled 12000km by car throughout Alberta, which is appropriately named "Wild Rose County", the effects of climate change are all too visible. On my visit to the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, I saw that glacier cover has been decreasing rapidly. As the glacial cover has decreased, so have downstream flow volumes. Nevertheless, the mountains are like "heaven on earth".
