Bonang Matheba is set to keep her appointment with the Uganda Entertainment Awards later this month. This despite the backlash she previously received for accepting the job in the country.

Bonang and the awards were caught in a social media storm in May after Twitter users and gay activists called on her to boycott the awards over Uganda's homophobic stance.

With such a large outcry, Bonang had little choice but to respond to the criticism, assuring her fans that she respected "human rights of all kinds" and promised to look into the matter before making a final decision about whether to keep her commitment as one of the show's hosts.

And while many may have expected Bonang to silently drop the job amidst the outcry, it seems B will still be attending the show, even if it is only as a E! Entertainment red carpet host at the event.

She took to Instagram over the weekend to confirm that she will be attending the show in Uganda on 19 August, posting a video announcing her participation at the event.
