It took a near death experience for Hlengiwe to finally pack her things and leave the father of her child, a story that had many on Twitter shocked and disturbed.

Hlengiwe's story of love and abuse at the hands of her former lover was featured on this week's episode of Ufelani.

Ma stayed in the turbulent relationship for 11 years and said she didn't walk away because she thought everything would get better. It never did.

Hlengiwe eventually realised that if she stayed any longer she could end up dead, so she took her kids and left.

Fans felt all kinds of emotions while listening to Hlengiwe's testimony and took to Twitter to share advice to women in the same situation as Hlengiwe was.
