Mark Pilgrim will be off-air longer that he expected as he battles stage four cancer and receives treatment on his collapsed lung.

Taking to his Instagram timeline on Wednesday, the jock thanked the radio station's management for always making his health their priority.

“Sorry guys, had plans to be back on air tomorrow, but the constant lung draining (another 2L today) is really knocking me. Today I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Lloyd, Tony and the rest of the management team at @hot1027fm. I phone to say I want to crawl up the stairs and do a show and they’re the sensible ones saying, no matter how many times I’m off air, their priority is supporting me getting better. We are not just a radio station, we’re a family. Thank you to everyone at @hot1027fm,” he wrote.

Mark also said he might undergo surgical treatment.

“Possible surgery next week to sort out the last month or so. There’s always hope and sunshine,” he added.

While receiving treatment for his collapsed lung, Mark took to his Instagram last week.

“To all the doctors and nurses helping me on the journey to recovery: thank you. It's been a rough couple of weeks and there’s still a few bumps. One day at a time. One foot in front of the other,” he posted

Mark took to his social media in February to confirm the devastating news, expressing fear and hope as he prepared to fight for his life once more.

“Thank you for all the kind messages of support as I’ve spent a few days away with loved ones. We’ll know the full extent of what’s going on in a few days after the PET scan. Suffice to say, the Big C has come knocking on my door again.”
