Mome has also spoken openly about not being accepted by her in-laws but says even that did not strain or change the trajectory of their relationship.
“We put our marriage first and For me not being accepted by my in-laws has not changed our love for each other but helped us to set boundaries to protect our marriage cause we don’t have a problem with each other. Our goal is to raise a healthy family in peace and harmony to avoid the noise from outside.”
Prayer has been the foundation of their union.
Mome says she hopes those who have witnessed their love journey through reality TV, tabloids or social media will learn to understand “a relationship doesn’t become solid overnight or become solid over beautiful pictures”.
She advises building one another physically, mentally, emotionally and financially contributes to a healthy relationship that can withstand the test of time.
“I believe it was God's plan for our relationship to be televised from early stages to tell the story today cause it happens to everyone. Faithfulness has kept us in love without insecurities. Understanding that we are in love with each other even our children know that.”
Her book Mome's Depth of Black Love, set to be released on her birthday, November 7, is set to unpack her healing journey over the years and help others who relate to her story.
“I hope to heal those who feel the in-law depression to find ways to live away from it, and I was trying to understand my situation from the depression I went through,
“If I’m the problem or what, only to find that a lot of women in black love are going through it. It’s real that some women contributed their stories in my book. The book is definitely to help our black community find healing and not be angry.”

Mome and Mongezi 'Tol A$$ Mo' Mahlangu's love story reads like a fairy-tale, laced with both dramatic lows and extreme highs. After a decade together they are grateful as they celebrate their wedding anniversary.
On October 21 2012, the celebrity couple vowed to love each other and spoke of starting a family together. Now as they live out their life together, parenting three beautiful children, their love has grown stronger.
“I still can’t believe we have been married for 10 years, we live through honesty, loyalty, respect, kindness, support, understanding and that has kept us in love with no insecurities,” Mome told TshisaLIVE.
They've survived public scrutiny, amid Mongezi being accused of rape and sexual harassment, even allegations of impregnating another woman.
Referring to those incidents Mome says some people do not want to see their relationship thrive and go to the extent of fabricating stories.
“It’s like people hate to see us happy.”
“We have been through trials and tests publicly and that’s not easy for one’s mental health but prayer is the foundation of our relationship. We rely on God to keep our union peaceful with lots of love. My husband has made me understand that no-one comes between us but God who we pray to.”
Mome has also spoken openly about not being accepted by her in-laws but says even that did not strain or change the trajectory of their relationship.
