Congratulations are in order for Schalk Bezuidenhout and his longtime partner Mica.
The comedian tied the knot with the woman of his dreams at the The Oyster Box Hotel on December 10, with 100 guests including friends and family in attendance to witness the two love birds make things official after five years together.
After asking for Mica's hand in marriage in 2019, Schalk waited two years to walk down the aisle, but admitted he knew he found the one at the beginning stages of their relationship.
Schalk said he was happy to have a supportive wife who understands the entertainment industry and shows him support.
"Very early on in our relationship I wanted to marry Mica, like a month or two, but I waited two years before I wanted to ask her because I knew she would be freaked out if I asked her after two months.
"I was pretty sure from early on. She is someone who understands what I do, someone who understands that being away from home is not because I want to gallivant but is part of my career and she is super understanding and supportive of that," he told TshisaLIVE.
Schalk and his wife had a pink and white themed wedding, and they expressed their gratitude to guests who celebrated their union with them.
"The people at the wedding were just the best. You can have the best venue, the best food and best everything, but if the people are not lekker then it's not going to be a fun wedding."
They are not going on honeymoon yet. The newlyweds have parked that idea for 2023 as the comedian finishes his work obligations for the year, including the Keeping Up comedy show at Hoerskool Jan van Riebeeck in Kloof Street from December 12 to 14.
"I'm calling it a 'working honeymoon'. I've got shows in Cape Town so we are taking our dogs with. There are shows but it's a holiday/honeymoon in between."
