When DJ Zinhle started her reality show with season one she opened up about how she was reluctant to have another season.

Fans were shocked and excited when the show made its return in August. It was a fan favourite because it gave them a glimpse into the private and reserved DJ and businesswoman.

We look back to moments that made the star emotional on DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected.

More time with the kids

The businesswoman has her hands full with her alcoholic beverage called Boulevard, a hair company called Hair Majesty, an Airbnb apartment and an accessory company called Era By DJ Zinhle, all these on top of her being a DJ, mother and wife.

The busy mom of two broke down in one episode of the reality show The Unexpected on BET Africa when she was catching up with her daughter Kairo, who was missing her mommy.

She was chatting with her manager Thabiet Amardien, who was sharing her schedule with her.

“I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed and I feel like we haven't stopped and I know that I'm doing this for the kids, but I'm starting to feel like I'm robbing them of time with their mother.”

Blended family

The married couple were having a chat about being dragged on social media for their blended family, among other things.

DJ Zinhle felt Tweeps were on a mission to make her and her blended family look bad.

“Bongani is not on Twitter, so he doesn’t care. The thing is they are always trying to make us look bad, that is the mission,” she said during the episode.

Lobola negotiations

The DJ hadn't shared moments from her intimate lobola do until the show started airing.

Zinhle revealed the news that she accepted Mörda's proposal when he asked for her hand in marriage in episode one of season two of DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected.

“Bongani and his family came to my family home to negotiate my bride price and we decided it should be a small thing with just family and Bongani's family.

“I never had ambitions to get married. I never wanted it, I never felt like I was with anyone I wanted to marry, but Bongani and I spent a lot of time talking about it, thinking about what we want to do.

“I'm excited to be his wife. I'm excited to try something I never thought would happen for me,” said Zinhle.

The ‘mastermind’

After everything she has been called and accused of doing, this one baffled her the most.

On social media, the DJ has been accused of being the mastermind behind the changes in her husband's music group Black Motion.

Addressing this on her show she dismissed it and said she was baffled why tweeps would think her husband is not his own person.

In a recent interview on Kaya 959, Zinhle said she refrains from defending herself on some things on social media because this could easily come across as attention seeking.

“Over the years I've just had to learn to remove myself from things that don't necessarily need me. I understand  the level of influence comes with these things, but there's also a level I've  had to remove myself from, not allowing yourself to be a victim on a personal level. I am human and I have family I'm responsible for.
