Kings of Joburg premiered last week Friday and has received mixed reviews on the socials as more people are tune in to the second season.

Taking to her Twitter timeline amapiano sensation Lady Du said the Netflix series was dope, and likened it to a Spanish heist crime drama television series Money Heist, created by Álex Pina, which was also a firm favourite among Mzansi audiences.

Kings of Joburg needs you to sit the whole day and watch it to understand it. It’s actually so dope and interesting. I love it. It’s our South African Money Heist,” she captioned her post.

Most of her followers agreed with her about the standard of the newly released drama series.

“It is very interesting. I finished the whole season yesterday,” wrote one follower.

“I love the plot twist of Veronica, it was so unexpected and it slapped,” added another.

Taking to her Instagram timeline before the show debuted, Connie posted: “Tik... Tok... We’re almost there. With the sudden and suspicious disappearance of the King of Joburg Simon Masire, the family struggles to adapt to a new king and new enemies in the City of Gold. Heavy is the crown, but it’s time to take back the city. Kings of Joburg season 2 coming January 27, only on Netflix.”

She dedicated the show to her late husband Shona Ferguson who starred as Simon Masire in the first season of the Netflix series.

“In memory of the most amazing human being I have known, the King of Joburg Shona Ferguson, aka Mr Sho, aka Uncle Sho. This is for you, my love. Hope you’re proud.”
