Lee-Anne “Gogo Maweni” Mokopo garnered a huge fan base when she made her reality show debut on Izangoma Zodumo, and now, having become a well-known sangoma in Mzansi, Moja Love has given the reality TV star her own show.

The popular sangoma excitedly announced the news on her social media that she had bagged a reality show dubbed Thokoza Gogo set to premiere on May 6. She said her fans will get to see the real Gogo Maweni.

“Now I can showcase who I truly am on my own platform, and with my husband joining me on the show it makes it better. I have a lot of time to show people what I’m about,” she told TshisaLIVE.

Gogo Maweni has made headlines on various occasions, from allegations about her marriage falling apart to her fallout with her former friend, Gogo Skhotheni.

The trailer of the show sees Gogo Maweni and her husband discuss infidelity as well as their adopted child and showcases traditional ceremonies.

“There's fights and all. Being in a marriage doesn’t mean that every day is going to be all happy. With ubungoma, we’ve been very strategic with what we show, and what we want the world to know. Even when people see me mixing muti, I do not call out their names.”

While Gogo Maweni has chosen to remain mum about her fight with Gogo Skhotheni after their social media spat, she said she addresses their feud in the show.

“When she went on her little rampage, I did not respond on social media. If she is looking forward to my response, she has to watch the show.”

Since acquiring fame, Gogo Maweni’s life has not been the same. She might be adamant that she is not a celebrity, but her 298,000 Instagram followers, her affiliations with renowned stars in Mzansi and her fans who stop her to take pictures when she is out in public, prove otherwise.

“At times I wish I wasn’t famous because there are so many things that happen, but reality TV gives me an opportunity to teach people. My work has put me on the platform.”
