After a music career spanning more than 23 years, seasoned DJ and Afrotainment owner DJ Tira has announced he's working on a new album.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE after his trip to Texas, he explained why he and his wife Gugu were there and also revealed his album will be dropping soon.

“I'm working on a super album, which I'm very excited about, I've sampled one of the songs where I feature Jah Prayzah on one of the songs. I've also done a collaboration with D'banj and also with Nkosazana Daughter and Master KG. It should drop some time in July or August.

“We've got the Durban July coming up as well and Afrotainment has a marquee there. I've got another trip to the US on June 24 and I'm returning to New York for another gig so I'm busy and it's nice.”

On what has sustained his music career over the years, he said he swears by discipline.

“The focus and the discipline is very important in the music industry and how you behave and how you treat yourself. Do you respect the industry? All those things play a role in your longevity as an artist in the music industry. For me the discipline is very important. The focus must always be there and also working with a lot of producers. I like to work with multiple producers as much as possible.”

Speaking to TshisaLIVE previously about his last album Rockstar Forever he said the album would showcase another side of his music talents.

Tira also said he hoped to keep Gqom alive in a world where amapiano had tongues wagging.

“It sort of touches your soul better than the music that I have produced in the past. I went into the studio with a gospel artist to produce a song that older people will appreciate. And I also got into it with younger people who rap. I'm trying to cater for the old, for the young, and I am trying to keep the genre Gqom alive. When 'piano is doing so well, I am still brave enough to produce Gqom music and keep it moving,” DJ Tira said.
