Tributes have been pouring in since the news of Teboho Mahlatsi's death broke.

The Mahlatsi family confirmed he passed away on Monday.

“It is with the saddest regret we announce the untimely passing of filmmaker and producer Teboho Moseling Mahlatsi on July 3 2023. In lieu of personal condolences, the family kindly requests prayers and that they be given privacy to mourn and come to terms with the tragic loss,” read their statement.

Mahlatsi was a celebrated screenwriter and has written, produced and directed many productions.

He was also a company co-director at Bomb Productions and responsible for the Mzansi Magic drama series Shaka iLembe.

Celebs headed to their socials to share fond memories of the revered filmmaker, who was described as a visionary in the South African television landscape.

Rapper Stogie T shared how in his formative years he crossed paths with Teboho.

“Thirteen or so years ago I wrote to a Kanye beat after being provoked by some troubling news involving abuse and children. Long and very important story short, Tebogo Mahlatsi heard the song and between him @tha_filmaka and many others I have now forgotten but am not less appreciative of, they decided to make a video for it. I remember that day feeling so blessed there were people out there like Tebogo,” he wrote.

Actress Thembisa Mdoda remembered her interaction with Teboho.

“Teboho Mahlatsi’s passing has left me stunned. What a loss. I was fresh out of drama school when Teboho, Thabang and Angus took a meeting with me, just to talk. Ask questions. Get advice. This was when Bomb was still in Marlboro. I’ll never forget that,” wrote Thembisa.
