The DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards (DMVCAs) will not take place this year and the channel remains mum on why there was a change of heart.

The awards celebrate and pay tribute to local celebrities and their contributions to the entertainment industry.

Last year's awards took place in June at Times Square in Menlyn, Pretoria.

The ceremony was a star-studded affair as the blue carpet was rolled out after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

The 2022 awards were hosted by former The River actor Lawrence Maleka, who also scooped two of the coveted statuettes.

The channel said they would share details of when the fifth instalment of the DMVCAs will take place.

“The DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards is a significant event to MultiChoice. Not only do the awards celebrate our extraordinary local talent but they also put the fans, who are our customers, at the centre. We will advise in due course when the next edition will take place,” MultiChoice said.

Makhadzi shot up the trends list when she walked away with the Favourite Music Artist or Group Award as well as the Song of the YearAward for her hit song Ghanama featuring Prince Benza .

She revealed she begged to perform at the last awards for free, knowing one day things would change.

Connie Ferguson won the Favourite Personality Award and dedicated it to her late hubby Shona.
