Thando Thabethe has unlocked a first for herself by starring in the animation series My Dad the Bounty Hunter.

The second season of the show debuted globally on Netflix on August 17.

Thando stars as Adja in the second season of the computer-animated science fiction adventure action-comedy.

The show, which has featured in the Netflix TV top 10 lists in 39 countries, follows two children as they discover their father is the toughest bounty hunter in the galaxy when they accidentally hitch a ride into space.

“This is my first animation and international role. To say I am excited and grateful would be an understatement. Being a storyteller is my passion and I am so happy to have unlocked a first for myself. This role was both adventurous and fun, I hope that is the same emotion the audience gets when watching the series” said Thando.

After her two nominations for the 17th annual Saftas in the categories Best Actress In A TV Drama as Linda in Housekeepers and Best Actress in a TV Comedy as Beauty in How To Ruin Christmas, Thando is making sure to end the last two quarters of the year on a high.

The family-friendly sci-fi series is showing on Netflix and has been a feature among the top 10 TV programmes in South Africa.

Speaking to Variety, Thando said being a part of stories produced for a global audience helped expose her as a rising international talent.

“We’re finding ourselves working in spaces and with people we otherwise wouldn’t imagine ourselves working in."
