WATCH | Gospel choir Spirit of Praise get mixed reactions for their 'spiritual flight'
While on their Spirit of Praise Nine Tour, gospel group Spirit of Praise have been selling out tickets, topping charts, and traveling in and beyond borders of Mzansi - but their recent spiritual flight is what's got many talking.
The gospel choir shot up trends lists on Thursday after a video of gospel star Omega Khunou and other Spirit of Praise singers belting their hit song Moy'Oyingcwele on an airplane went viral on social media.
Some questioned whether their behaviour was inconsiderate of other passengers onboard and others saw it as a good way to pass time.
Marketing manager Matthew Nkabinde shed light on the video saying there was no passenger who had expressed any grievances when the incident happened in September, as the flight had already landed.
"The plane had just touched down in Durban and they were about to disembark so they started singing. While there might be backlash on one social platform, there was no backlash. The video on Tik Tok is doing very well," he told TshisaLIVE.
Matthew went on to speak on how their tour taking place at Carnival City, Big Top Arena set to take place on December 2 had already been sold out and they have now added another date to accommodate the many "worshipers" who can't wait to make it to the show which is expected to have a surprise guest artist.
"We had a beautiful tour in Durban, we came back the people were happy. As South African's we sing."

On social media, many continue to weigh in on their conduct.
Kaya 959 presenter Sol Phenduka was among the social media users that expressed their opinion.
"Just because it’s Gospel it doesn’t make this right . Some people legit need to rest on the flight , others want to sleep , others want to read or enjoy other music on their headphones . Not cool !!!!!" Sol Phenduka wrote.

This is whack, cause if I was on a flight with my friends and we all said “Allah hu Akbar” in unison we’d be arrested immediately 🤔 https://t.co/X73qAdCRvO

So annoying. Why do people feel entitled to infringe on others like this?

They must charter a plane if they want to praise and worship onboard. The entitlement is nauseating. https://t.co/meIMpxNNcp
