The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) would like to wish all the mothers of South Africa a happy mother’s day this Sunday.

Being a mother carries the utmost responsibility and we understand it can be the hardest job in the world to be responsible for the future of South Africa’s children.

It was said by Maxim Gorky that “Only mothers can think of the future – because they give birth to it in their children”.

We are hoping children will take this opportunity to thank their mothers and show them how much they are appreciated this Mother’s Day.

Many mothers in South Africa are forced to raise children on their own due to a number of circumstances and we as mothers in the ANC understand how difficult being a mother can be.

We urge the mothers of South Africa to stay strong and continue the struggle by being the pillars of strength that families have come to rely on.

Mothers are expected to work tirelessly throughout the year and this Sunday we are urging them to sit back, take a break and get looked after instead.

We would like wish all mothers a blessed and relaxing day where we hope they are shown just how much they are appreciated by those who love them.

Happy mother’s day from the ANCWL.
