The 2017 Geneva Motor Show is giving GT3 fans plenty reason to stand up and cheer. The refreshed 991.2 version of Stuttgart's most hardcore 911 model is now available with a six-speed sport manual gearbox.

Yes, you read right. Apparently Porsche listens to their customers and many of them were totally not impressed that the classic three-pedal setup had been ditched in favour of PDK and PDK only. So they bought back the stick. Good move, we say.

Another good move was to add more power to the mix. The revvy 3.8-litre flat-six now delivers 368kW – good enough to propel the manual version to a claimed top speed of 320km/h.

To keep the new GT3 stuck firmly to terra firma, Porsche also redesigned the car's aerodynamics to increase downforce. Active rear-axle steering improves maneuverability – particularly through slower, tighter bends.

Availability? Order books are already open with the first cars due in South Africa from mid-September. Price? Attached to a three-year DrivePlan the new 991.2 911 GT3 will cost you R2 750 000. – Thomas Falkiner
