Woman dies in Pretoria house fire

A 25-year-old-woman died in a house fire in Hanny Street, Pretoria Gardens, paramedics said.

A 25-year-old-woman died in a house fire in Hanny Street, Pretoria Gardens, on Thursday morning, paramedics said.

An elderly woman was also in a serious condition, said Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks.

"Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the house engulfed by flames," he said. Both women were lying in the driveway.

The younger woman died at the scene. The elderly woman was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

She was in a serious, but stable condition, Wicks said.
