Ramokgopa's address 'must give answers'

Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa will today deliver his state of the capital address at Freedom Park in Pretoria. He is likely to be steadfast on commitments to the city's 2055 vision. The vision envisages "a resource-efficient city, with quality infrastructure development, a reliable public transportation sector and innovative governance practices".Tshwane has declared itself a "smart" city, anchoring the country's knowledge economy with innovation from science centres such as the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research.But The Times's readers want Ramokgopa to answer some difficult questions.Hot on the lips of many was how the city planned to fund the R1.4-billion exit agreement with Peu Capital Partners over the cancellation of the smart metering deal.Others, like Symon Laps, asked for better public transport.He also called for increased visible policing, saying street muggings were a real concern in the capital...
