Bus drivers in Pretoria went on strike on Thursday morning, the City of Tshwane said.

The drivers were affiliated to the South African Municipal Workers' Union, spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said.

They went on strike after the city decided that drivers should continue carrying money and selling tickets for cash, while an alternative fare collection system was being looking into.
