Two club rugby players are facing attempted murder charges over the vicious assault of businessman Ryan Moore last week.

Collegians Rugby Club players Sibulele Nanto‚ 25‚ and Thembalethu Sishi‚ 26‚ appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Both were released on R1‚000 bail.

It is alleged that Moore‚ of Morningside‚ had become embroiled in a fight with the pair in the parking lot of nightclub Tiger Tiger on April 22.

It is understood that Moore and a friend had left the popular nightclub after it had closed‚ when it is alleged that they saw Nanto and Sishi‚ who were returning to the rugby club’s accommodation‚ which is situated nearby.

Moore was knocked out and his skull was fractured‚ causing significant bleeding onto his brain. He spent several days in the intensive care unit of the Netcare St Augustine’s hospital before he was discharged.

Collegians chair Ian Losinsky refused to comment on the matter when contacted by TimesLIVE‚ save to say that earlier stories published on the assault were completely untrue.

The pair will return to court on May 9.
