Police are investigating the slaying of a woman who had been stripped naked and had her throat slit before being shoved off a cliff in Lindelani near Ntuzuma, outside Durban.

Late on Tuesday night, rescue technicians from the police’s Search and Rescue unit recovered the woman’s decomposed remains from a ledge several metres below the summit.

Sources with intimate knowledge of the investigation, who spoke to TimesLIVE on condition of anonymity, said that judging by the degree of decomposition it is likely that the woman was murdered last week.

She has yet to be identified.

The rescue staff rappelled to where the body had fallen and using a rope system, hauled her remains to the top of the cliff.

Police spokesperson capt Nqobile Gwala confirmed that detectives were investigating a case of murder and that no arrests had yet been made.
