'Dying horse' ANC using refugees' food parcels to buy votes: EFF MP

Hlengiwe Octavia Maxon, a minister of parliament for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has accused the ruling party of stealing refugee food parcels - in order to buy votes.

Maxon made the accusation as the EFF rejected a social development budget proposed in Parliament yesterday.

The EFF also rejected a vote on the Department of communication, saying the department was set up to be a propaganda arm of the ANC.

That said, if the government was a TV station, the EFF's Mbuyiseni Ndlozi did have suggestions for the roles the ruling party could play.

The party also rejected the cooperative government vote, saying "Over 160 municipalities are on ICU because of corruption, nepotism and general lack of ideas."

Home affairs didn't come out of it unscathed, with Maxon saying they only achieved 13 out of 51 of their targets, and International relations was rejected on the basis of South Africa's involvement with NATO and Israel.

"The EFF will not support budgets that does nothing to improve living conditions of the poor," the party said.
