Front-row seats or nothing - well, if it's fashion week that is. That's where the who's who of couture and celebrati are to be found.

Last Friday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa, Patrice Motsepe and his lovely wife, Precious Moloi-Motsepe, graced the evening's drawcard show by Carducci, where unsmiling (hangry?) models made their stony-faced way past the likes of stony-faced Idols judge Randall Abrahams.

Joining him in the illustrious seats were the DJ-ing Siamese twins DJ Naves and DJ Sphectacula, who showed their appreciation for the pieces (that's "clothes" to the layman) they liked by clapping emphatically. The women's collection was paired with Miglio jewellery, who kindly put a gift bag on each VIP's seat.

The after-party - billed as "a dinner" - was rather lacklustre by comparison, as a smattering of bites (including the world's saltiest beef kebab) left guests rather hungry.

Roll on to Saturday morning for the ultimate front-row showdown: the David Tlale show. Clad in their absolute best, the A-listers like Bonang Matheba, choreographer extraordinaire Somizi Mhlongo, designer Malcolm Kluk and style blogger Aimee Song made their way to the shuttles stationed outside Melrose Arch to transfer everyone to the offsite runway, because well .

David Tlale. Clever seating meant everyone was afforded a front-row seat, as Tiffany chairs meandered around the Creative Counsel building, which formed the runway.

Many air-kisses, pouts, selfies and a standing ovation later, a select few joined the newly announced Cîroc vodka ambassador, Tlale, at a private after-party. - Thembalethu Zulu
