Secret Sunrise is the latest craze sweeping through SA, and once you attend one of these energising morning sessions, it’s easy to see why. Described as the only way to start your day, Secret Sunrise is an early morning dance session to get moving and celebrate the rising sun. So, instead of beginning the day in a tired haze, start off energised and invigorated with one of these extraordinary morning sessions.

Since the first session last year, the team behind Secret Sunrise have been working hard to provide overworked, overtired people with a freeing and uplifting workout that fits into their day. Most importantly, these workouts needed to be revitalising and fun.

With this in mind, Secret Sunrise sessions take place (unsurprisingly) at the crack of dawn, giving attendees a chance to watch the sun come up, listen to great music, and connect with amazing people while dancing their way into a new day.

Upon arrival, each ticket holder is handed a pair of wireless headphones through which they’re encouraged, directed, and spurred on by the resident DJs and their incredible tracks. Starting at 6am, the sessions give people a chance to warm up, get into the groove, and then express themselves and connect with others by dancing along to the catchy tunes playing through their earphones.

And if you’re up even earlier than that, you can enjoy a free yoga session from 5am. One of the best aspects of Secret Sunrise sessions is the amazing venues. Each venue offers a new and inspiring view of Joburg, and these spaces are often kept secret right until the last second.

Not much of an early riser, or have commitments first thing during the week? Never fear – next week, Joburg will host the first Secret Saturday (16 April), an event taking place over the weekend and a little later than normal: you’ll only have to be there at 10.30am. Follow Secret Sunrise Johannesburg on Facebook, get your tickets, and head out to celebrate Joburg and dance your worries away. Call 082-449-3762.
