It's been, like, a million weeks (okay, maybe only 8) since Black Panther hit Mzansi and we were all lining up for visas to Wakanda. And, obvs, the spirit of the Black Panther still lives with us.

It has changed the way we look at the world and now it's changing the way we look at ballet after the Joburg Ballet decided to do their own Black Panther inspired episode as part of their #BreakingBallet series.

They got all deep and said they were inspired by the impact the movie had on the world.

"The incredible global success of Black Panther has placed Africa at the epicentre of contemporary popular culture. For centuries, this continent has been eroded and exploited by the forces of colonialism and globalisation. Through the fictional nation of Wakanda, the film gives us a glimpse of how Africa might have prospered had these forces never existed. Although we can never change our past, Black Panther shows us how important it is to protect and preserve our African-ness now and for future generations."

The performers couldn't travel to Wakanda so they settled on the Cradle of Humankind as their place to shoot them doing superhero dancing things.

Performers Monika Cristina, Kitty Phetla and Claudia Monja are Dora Milaje warriors, laying down a challenge to any would-be adversaries of African culture in the series .

Check it out:

We think they deserve a Wakanda-sized applause.

Correction: TshisaLIVE mistakenly referred to this as a series at the Joburg Ballet in Johannesburg. It is not a series but a Black Panther inspired episode as part of their #BreakingBallet series. The error has been corrected.
