Ukhozi FM came under fire from some listeners after the station provided the alleged abuser Mampintsha a platform to "defend" himself on Tuesday night.

Mampintsha was released on R2,000 bail by the Pinetown magistrate's court on Tuesday after police arrested him on charges of assault.

On Monday video footage of a man alleged to be Mampintsha slapping Babes several times went viral.

"I just want to apologise to the fans, to the listeners and everyone. However, I want to make it clear that I am the victim here. Babes attacked me in bed in the house," Mampintsha said.

Mampintsha went on to make several other claims about Babes and their relationship.

The artist yet again admitted to hitting Babes and tried to justify his actions.

Mampintsha claimed that after Babes established her own company she suddenly had "a lot more power" and wasn't "reasonable or wasn't listening to him or anyone anymore".

He claimed that Babes had a "problem with alcohol".

Fans questioned the reason for the interview when Babes wasn't able to defend herself against the claims Mampintsha was making.

Even though Babes's father was also called to speak on Babes's behalf, listeners still felt the interview was inappropriate and the matter should be left to the courts of law to deal with.

People were definitely not impressed with the station and expressed their emotions on Twitter.
