Connie Chiume flew the South African flag high at the US premiere of the Hollywood blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The award-winning actress graced the carpet draped in an elegant mustard Scalo couture gown at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday.

Connie, who attended the event with her daughter Nothando Mabuza and son Nongelo, rubbed shoulders with internationally acclaimed stars including Rihanna, Michael Ealy and Nigerian super star Burna Boy and Mzansi's own Nomzamo Mbatha.

She said it was an amazing and memorable event.

"Last night was a movie I loved playing lead in. African child, it's very possible," she wrote.

Connie is set to be honoured with the Hollywood African Prestigious Award on October 29 while in the US.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE previously about her achievements, Connie she was elated to be recognised globally.

“It means a lot to me as an actress. This is the second overseas award I am getting."

She’s had many highlights during her career and said she doesn't take them for granted.

“The first time I was on stage was in Greece in a play titled Shola Shola. That opportunity was magical. I was also cast in a classic American opera and I wasn’t even trained in opera.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is the biggest highlight of my career, if there is anything like that. I am grateful for the chance to be part of something so big and historical.”
