Actress Mona Monyane has spoken about her approach to co-parenting.

It's that time of the year when parents celebrate their children's education milestones. The actress took to her Instagram to share snaps of her daughter's big day, where she was with ex-husband and co-parenting partner Khulu Skenjana.

Mona is well aware how challenging the journey is, but says she chooses to focus on the positive side. She shared tips for others on the same path.

1. Be the peacemaker, not the aggressor (This doesn't guarantee that your co-parent will do the same, do it anyway) 2. Remember that your child has an independent relationship with both of you, don't make them choose between the two of you (A relationship can fail but a parent is forever) 3. Choose what's best for the child (If your child loves you both, do your best to both be in their lives) 4. Be graceful in the face of adversity (Clutch a pearl Sis, get a lawyer if you must fight but don't be the one being all ghetto in the streets!)

Mona stars in Netflix film Wild is the Wind. She told TshisaLIVE her character made her reflect on the journey that made her the woman she is today and feels it will teach many about self-assuredness and self-preservation.

“What was very challenging about this role is that scenes came up that touched home. I believe a lot of women are going to be able to relate,” she said.

“It was quite an experience to dial back to certain emotions. Yes, it's a different situation, but at the end of the day we all know how it feels to be betrayed, with somebody changing on you or you are blindsided in a relationship.”
