WATCH | Nadia Nakai says she didn’t date AKA to spite Cassper Nyovest, they just ‘fell in love’

Rapper Nadia Nakai has made it clear her decision to date AKA had nothing to do with Cassper Nyovest.

Speaking on Kaya FM’s breakfast show this week, Nadia addressed reports that she had fallen out with Cassper, who was her label boss.

Reiterating her gratitude to Cassper for helping launch her career, Nadia made it clear she did not date Cassper's rap rival AKA to spite her former boss.

“There was no spite, I could never spite Cassper. He gave me such a big opportunity to launch my career.”

Nadia said she and AKA "just happened to fall in love".

“For the longest time, I’ve never interacted with this person until when I was about to leave Family Tree.

“It just happened the way it happened and I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like it’s something t God did. I feel like I don’t have to explain the Cassper element,” Nadia told Kaya FM.

A year ago Cassper rubbished claims there was tension between himself and Nadia after her exit from the rapper’s Family Tree record label.

“She left the label and we no longer work together, so naturally we won’t hang as much. She’s got a new team and I’m sure she’ll be good because she always did her own thing anyway,” he wrote.

Nadia was the first to reveal the news of her exit from the record label in an interview with Slikour. She admitted leaving Cassper was an emotional experience.

“I am no longer with The Tree. I am working on my own record label. I need to be able to stand on my own. Funny enough, I was scared to tell Cass. After I told him, I could feel he was a bit sad, but we are good,” she said.

Soon after that, the news that Nadia was dating AKA went viral. The two rappers went public with their relationship in early March after sharing a video on Instagram of them sharing a kiss while at Orthodox VIP Lounge in Johannesburg, and all is seemingly  going strong.

During an Instagram Q&A, Nadia said she had no regrets after doing matching tattoos with her beau.

“Nope, I'm a huge lover girl! I'm all in or nothing. Love loudly,” she wrote.

Speaking of her relationship with AKA's daughter Kairo from his relationship with DJ Zinhle, Nadia said she was gelling well with her but is not looking to have children of her own soon. 

“Really great, I'm so grateful she's embraced me. As for my own kids, yes, but not any time soon,”

Her focus is on releasing music with her bae and launching another album.
