Five times Andile Mpisane made headlines in 2022

In 2022, Andile Mpisane had Mzansi praising the fact that he is making the most of being the son of wealthy businesswoman Shauwn "MaMkhize" Mkhize.

From scoring gigs at international concerts to abuse allegations levelled against him to Royal AM chairperson and soccer player, here are moments that made the 21 year-old chart the Twitter trends list. 

Abuse allegations

Early in July Sithelo Shozi  took to her Instagram to open up about the alleged abuse she endured at the hands of Andile.

The abuse allegations landed Sithelo, Andile and MaMkhize on the local Twitter trends list, with tweeps waiting for Andile and his mother to share their version of events.

The DJ did not hold back when she alleged she was abused by Andile in one of her now-deleted Instagram stories. She explained why she went public with the shocking claims, saying she would no longer be silenced by the wealthy family.

Attached to her claims were  images of her swollen face, as well as an audio clip believed to be a telephonic discussion between the now exes in which a man she identified as Andile could be heard belittling her and hurling insults at her. The family denied the allegations or being witness to the alleged abuse. 

Royal AM goal at Macufe Cup

Andile took centre stage for the KwaZulu-Natal club in the Macufe Cup clash against Kaizer Chiefs.

He made an appearance off the bench in the last few minutes of the match to see his side win a penalty shoot-out and secure the cup. He grabbed a captain's armband for the trophy celebrations.

He trended immediately afterwards with tweeps claiming the Royal AM chairperson did not even touch the ball and suggested he was on the pitch because his family owned the club.

Legendz of The Streets Tour

He announced in February that he was part of the Legendz of The Streets Tour in Miami alongside renowned rappers Rick Ross, 2Chainz, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Fabolous and Trina. 

Andile shared the stage with the American hip-hop giants.

He was the first local musician to open as an international act in the history of the event.

Ties the knot to wifey Tamia

Though they married in December 2021, the news of the two being married gained traction in January. 

 Andile posted images from their engagement and penned an open letter to his wife.

“I feel blessed to have found an amazing woman that shares the same goals as me. I’m looking forward to a fruitful future with my wife and family. I’m thankful to God for bringing her into my life. To Tamia, I love you Mkami aka Mrs AM. I choose you and there is no turning back. We are in this together,” he said.

Tamia took to the comments section of his post to express her love for him.

“Thank you for loving me so boldly and loudly. You’ve really gone above and beyond. I look forward to forever with you. I love you. Ngiyabonga, baby,” she wrote.

Welcomes baby Miaandy with Tamia

The married couple welcomed their first child together in May.

Grandmother MaMkhize couldn't be more excited. 

The reality TV star and businesswoman took to her Instagram to announce the couple had welcomed their baby girl into the world.

“We thank God for the safe delivery, and thank you to everyone for the well wishes. On a lighter note, she was waiting for grandma to come back from the match to witness her arrival. I am over the moon to be a grandma again,” she wrote
