Hulisani Ravele is living her wildest dreams in radio as she celebrates the second half of her 25th year in the entertainment industry.

2023 marks the media personality’s fifth year at 947. She now hosts the 947 Weekend Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 10am.

She's filled in for Anele Mdoda on 947’s morning breakfast show, and recently she has been standing in for Relebogile Mabotja on the 702 Afternoons Show (also part of the Primedia company).

“The station managers had a chat, and I was thrilled to be asked and trusted to fill in. My journey thus far has been beautiful. My show and my abilities have grown in leaps and bounds. It’s a station I have always dreamt of being on, so I still pinch myself sometimes that I am here,” she tells TshisaLIVE.

Radio has been a goal for Ravele ever since she left SABC 1's YoTV in 2008.

“I fell in love with radio in the YFM days of Fresh & Thato, Rude Boy Paul & Dreshni, Bad Boy T, Lee and Sanza. I started as an Entertainment News contributor on Euphonik’s show on 5FM in 2008.”

Her first introduction to talk radio came in 2018 when she was invited to be a part of the POWER FM Women’s Month takeover with the #987Woman campaign.

After she hosted one of the shows, Ravele recalls receiving a call the following day asking her to stand in for the entire week. Since then, she's been leaving her mark in the radio space.

“The goal now is to be a phenomenal broadcaster, no matter the platform or style, that is music or talk radio.”

Having dubbed herself the “A Conduit of Conversations”, Ravele says she intends to have conversations with more “purpose, power and impact” in her career.

“I always intend to have conversations that will help listeners move forward in their lives, give them a different perspective or spark that ‘a-ha moment’ within them.

“Those who have loved and followed my career and my work can look forward to a more elevated and resolute Hulisani Ravele in all that I do. It’s going to be a special year!”
