More than a year and a half after his brawl with rapper Boity Thulo went viral on social media, Sthembinkosi “Bujy” Bikwa is still trying to pick up the pieces of his life.

In October 2021, Bujy was arrested after getting into an altercation with the rapper after a heated argument at a hotel in Waterfall, Midrand.

From that point, life changed for Bujy as he lost two TV shows and ambassadorship deals, which caused him to downgrade his lifestyle and he moved from a gold estate to a smaller flat due to financial constraints.

Bujy recently took to his timeline reflecting on his saga and his decision not to defend himself and not speak up about what transpired.

“At what point do you think I would effortlessly go out of my way to attack any human being? What do I gain? I chose not to defend my self publicly cause I respect the law and I fully understand what happened that night. I am a very loving person and extremely kind.”

The media personality recently spoke about mental health and healing, as well as handling triggers.

“It's never easy when going through a healing process, understand it will be uncomfortable, unbearable and painful. Go through it, trust God and surrender. I know it's easier said than done,” he captioned a post reflecting on the event.”

Images and voice recordings from a fight between Boity and Bujy came to light in court on October 2021.

Bujy was facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was granted R2,000 bail.

The “fight” was described by City Press as a brawl that followed a heated argument during which Bujy allegedly tossed a bottle of alcohol at Boity, leaving her with a bloody shirt and a cut to her face.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE in 2021, Bujy said he had since opened a counter-case of assault and crimen injuria against Boity.

“I was quiet because of the whole prison thing [spending time in jail before being released on bail] ... this thing shook me.”

In response Boity released a statement on her social media. The rapper didn't give details but confirmed the brawl had happened, adding that she needed time to “physically and emotionally heal”.

“It is with deep sadness to state that I was indeed an unfortunate victim of a vicious physical assault and that I have since opened a case against the culprit, which I am following with keen interest. I do not wish to comment on this matter any further (at this time),” read the statement.

“I respectfully request some space as I try to find a way to heal both physically and emotionally from this traumatic experience.”
