Safta award-winning series Celebrity Game Night has been renewed for a fourth season and presenter Ayanda Thabethe is excited to make her return as a team captain.

Comedian Jason Goliath joins the media personality as a team captain, with Anele Mdoda as the host of the game show.

“I consider it a privilege and honour to be part of Celebrity Game Night, it's a show that has touched a lot of people's hearts. It's a show that keeps a whole family engaged so it makes sense that it would last for this long and it gets better and better,” Ayanda told TshisaLIVE.

Having featured on various TV shows, Ayanda says being on the show has helped her fans get to know her better.

“People have a perception of who somebody is based on the shows they've done or who they just perceive them to be, and, for me, as a person who is sometimes considered prim and proper, it's nice for people to see my competitive and fun side.

“The show has taught me that I'm competitive, that I love winning, but also that I am a team player. I am somebody who wants to see the whole show win and everyone to do well.”

Ayanda has gone through different stages of her life on the show — one where she recorded a season while she was pregnant with her son and another after giving birth.

“It was scary leaving my son at home, but also, it felt good to have that piece of myself because I wasn't working for quite a bit of time, so it felt good to be in a different environment to get a little of myself back, to have fun.

“I think it contributed to me being an even better mom, being a present mom because I had that sense of self back again.”

Season 4 of Celebrity Game Night airs weekly from Sunday April 23 at 7pm CAT on E! Africa (DStv channel 124), with episodes available on Universal+ immediately after.
