Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu was emotional when her on-screen son Sicelo Buthelezi surprised her with a portrait.

The portrait is of her when she won the DStv Viewers' Choice favourite actress of the Year award in 2022.

Taking to her Instagram timeline she shared a clip of the Gomora crew welcoming and singing for her as she walked in.

“What a beautiful surprise. Thank you so much, my TeddyBear, yoo,” she captioned her post.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE after she won the award, Sannah described herself as a natural actress.

“I grew up in the township, watching the township Zodwas, so I don't need to dig deep or go far to find her. I think South Africans relate to Zodwa because every township has its own Zodwa, so for them its close to home.”

She said she was grateful for the opportunity she was given to show her skills as an actress.

“I have had so much fun acting on Gomora. I am allowed to play and explore the character of Zodwa the way I want to. It has been an absolute pleasure.”

She expressed her sadness at the end of the telenovela.

“All things come to an end my friends. Let me take this opportunity to thank Seriti Production for blessing us with Gomora. We were treated very well, that's why our performance was very great.

“It's my first time working in a place where I put all my madness [and it was welcomed]. To the crew and cast from Gomora I say 'big things are yet to come. Gates will open. It is painful to lose work but let us stay hopeful. The Lord who took us to Gomora will carry us and put us somewhere else. My friends and followers of Gomora, thank you so much for the support you have given us. I love you,” she wrote.
