Three times Chris Q gave Mzansi actors their flowers on his TL
Scriptwriter, executive producer and actor Chris Q. Radebe never lets a chance to give Mzansi artists their due credit pass him by. In 2022 he gave plenty of actors their flowers while they could still smell them.
Earlier this year he praised, among others, Sannah Mchunu, Sjava and Nelisa Mchunu on his Instagram timeline.
Flowers for Dineo Langa
Actress Dineo Langa impressed Chris Q while the pair worked together on a project.
He took to his socials to show Dineo some recognition for blowing him away with a character she more than delivered on.
“I fell in love with her personality on V Entertainment. There was that little voice thing she would do at the end of the show when she would say: 'From my heart to yours, all love.' I lived for that thing. I thought she’d be wonderful with children, and my dream was to cast her in a movie as a paediatrician (that movie is still on the horizon).
“Bakwethu, u-Dineo wumuntu. We started shooting at about 07:00 and at 20h07, she looked at a crew member who was falling asleep and smiled: 'Ga gona kgomo ya boroko.' And there were two more scenes to get through still. Not once did her energy change. Not once did she complain, argue or appear unhappy. Quite the opposite, in fact. I even joked that she had stolen some sugar while no-one was watching,” he wrote.
Flowers for Nelisa
Chris Q can't get enough of the talent that is actress Nelisa Mchunu.
Chris shared the self-tape that scored the former Uzalo actress the role of Bazothini in Mzansi Magic's Isifiso. In a lengthy post Chris shared how they had already chosen someone to play the character until Nelisa sent her tape.
“The time was 8.40pm. I stopped everything and went on the WhatsApp group. I told my colleagues this was our Bazothini and not one of them disagreed. I’ve been a fan of Nelisa’s since the first time I saw her on Uzalo.
Chris said Nelisa's character may not have been particularly emotionally demanding but her talent was hard to miss.
Flowers for Sannah Mchunu
Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu bagged the DStv MVCA's Favourite Actress award and Chris Q took to Instagram in a lengthy post to give his fans a glimpse of what it was like to work with the actress and to gush over her talent.
“If you ever needed proof that God’s timing is impeccable or that hard work pays off, look no further. If you watch Channel 164 as frequently as I do, you’ll know that Sannah Mchunu has been on a few Mzansi Bioskop films for more than 10 years. But it was only with the arrival of Gomora that many were introduced to her remarkable talent.
