Robert Marawa has reflected on his near-death experiences, claiming there have been attempts on his life.

The sports presenter has survived two heart attacks  and has been candid about his health issues.

In 2008 he had a heart attack after a gym session, which he said was because he had not been exercising for a while. In 2013 he collapsed at an event. He was also reportedly taken to a medical facility in 2017.

In a recent sit down with DJ Fresh, Robert set the record straight on the reports about him having experienced three heart attacks, saying he was hospitalised for a third time and almost lost his life. He suggested this third hospital visit was after an attempt on his life.

He did not say who it was that had made the attempt on his life, or how they did so. TshisaLIVE has reached out for comment, and any update will be included once received.

“I was not exaggerating. There have been attempts on my life. Even in the times when people were saying I was in hospital because of a heart attack and it was my third heart attack.

“I never had three heart attacks but I ended up in ICU. The two were purely cardiac and health-related. That's the one that was a direct threat to my life but it was reported as a heart attack.

“Two heart attacks are scary. But I think that particular one made me feel like I was losing my life. I felt the presence of my life just being sucked away when I was there.”

Robert had previously hinted at being threatened and how it had taken a toll on his health during an interview on Radio 2000.

“People don't know what it is that I've had to do. I've been threatened. I was in ICU in June/July last year. My sister was shattered. When she walked in, she saw a corpse. But people don't know that because I don't talk about it,” he said.
