It's been week six since Shaka iLembe premiered on our television screens and viewers have found their faves.

Seasoned actor Mondli Makhoba, who stars in the show, is among the admirers. He gave Khabonina Qubeka her flowers for her brilliant work as Queen Ntombazi in the limited series.

“I remember her on Isidingo — The need. I remember her on Generations — The Legacy. I remember meeting her for the first time at Bomb Productions in that long pre-production of Shaka iLembe. I remember her on set of Shaka iLembe, the loudness in the car from set to base. But the same loudness is heard in her portrayal of Queen Ntombazi.

“Today, I want to say thank you Khabonina Q for how you approached Ntombazi. I am thankful her spirit chose you. She comes alive in you. She is calm, sure and loving to her children no matter what,” he wrote.

Taking to her own timeline after the premier of Shaka iLembe, the actress gusheabout her character.

“I love and respect you Ma! You make decisions that you see fit for your family and your nation ... Your measures and your methods are unorthodox! It is normal and expected to be called names,” she wrote.

Mondli also reflected on his friendship with Safta award-winning actor Wiseman Mcube and what they had been through together.

He spoke about how proud he was of their journey together in the acting industry and both being cast in Mzansi Magic's prime-time drama series.

“Now that we are on Shaka iLembe together, I'm proud of our journey. I appreciate you, Mahlobo. You are part of my story. And I cannot be told without you in it.”
