After getting a few boos last year, the Sunset Groove Lifestyle Event has made enhancements as it makes a return this year.

The event seeks to change the way people view lifestyle events in the Free State. It became the first platform to bring the biggest urban podcast in SA, Podcast and Chill With MacG, to the historic Naval Hill Nature Reserve in 2022.

However, it received backlash when patrons complained about the venue being too small for the attendees.

This year, they partner with Trace TV as their exclusive television partner and have moved the venue to the Central University of Technology. It will take place on September 30.

“We need to evolve the way we do events, by exposing people to new things within the eventing space, hence the decision to bring the podcast to Bloemfontein last year,” Nkokheli Lindazwe, founder of the event, told TshisaLIVE

“We knew it was a big risk, especially because it was our inaugural event, however, we were willing to take the risk because we aspire to shift the paradigm and the risk paid off because we saw over 2,000 patrons supporting the event,” he said.

Having had a hot line-up last year, including Young Stunna, K.O, Daliwonga, Malumz on Decks and MacG as well as his co-hosts, Trace TV will unveil this year's official list of performers on September 4.

“Trace remains committed to celebrating events that ensure inclusion and equality for all in the music industry. We are excited about partnering with the SunsetGroove Lifestyle Event team, especially in light of us celebrating 20 years of Trace,” Valentine Gaudin-Muteba, Trace’s MD, said in a statement.
