Media personality Somizi Mhlongo is edging closer to the official launch of his kiddies range, Sompire Kids.

He started the official countdown on his Instagram timeline and now has six days to go before the big reveal. The merch will be available online, he added.

Kick-starting the countdown on his socials, he told his followers he wanted them to have a front-row seat to the action.

"With nine days to go before the launch of the Sompire Kids online store, I want you to be one of the first to see what we have from our very first range of kiddies fashion," he wrote.

He had previously spoken about the range during an appearance on The Braai Show with Cassper Nyovest.

In May 2022 he took to his Instagram to share his dream was finally coming true.

“The pieces are coming together nicely. I can't wait for you to see what we are cooking. Every kid deserves a Sompire Kids gear in their wardrobe, and every parent should afford it. That's my goal,” he wrote

Speaking to Sunday Times, Somizi said the collaboration with Bathu CEO Theo Baloyi was a good fit because he had long been a fan of the popular SA footwear brand.

“It speaks to me because it’s local,” he said, adding that he also appreciates the quality, look and feel of their designs. “And they’re not shy with colours, so that’s why I love it.”

After the launch of his cookbook in 2020, Somizi is also looking to do more in the culinary space. He plans to open a small restaurant business at Prison Break Market in Sunninghill, Johannesburg

“I'm doing it my way, not following anyone's journey. Hence the food is going to be what Somizi likes to eat. It's going to be hearty, tasteful and on-the-go,” he told TshisaLIVE.
