Nearly two years since going solo, Mörda has celebrated another milestone in his career.
The DJ and producer won Remix of the Year for his song Ndinovalo featuring Yallunder, and Best Dance Album for his debut album Asante at SAMA29.
Mörda, real name Bongani Mohosana, reflected on his music journey, expressing his gratitude to those who had contributed to his success.
“The journey of Asante, words cannot describe. To have had the support of those that believed in me as well as the project, this is to you. I now know God is good all the time. To my family and friends, thank you, thank you for giving me the wind I needed in my sail. At times I felt like perhaps all I had was music in this life,” he wrote.
“To the artist who let me use their studios to work on this project, thank you guys, you didn’t turn me away, and God showed up for us. To the artists who took a gamble and worked on this album with me, thank you ... obviously, we did it. Your faith in me is graciously appreciated.
“To my wife, I can’t say enough how grateful I am. Thank you mama for showing me that love conquers all. I have confidence that I can give you the world one day because you give me heaven every day. To the people, I love you. More is coming, I’m hungrier now more than ever.”
In September, Mörda released his sophomore solo album, Asante II after his daughter, Asante’s second birthday which saw him top charts with his song Burning Bush alongside legendary maskandi artist Ihashi Elimhlophe.
Burning Bush is heavily influenced by the new carved, dance subgenre 3 step wave.
“The name of my new single is titled Burning Bush and is a sound continuation of what my fans and family got to experience on Asante. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am obsessed with taking people on a journey when listening to my music and on this new album they should expect that and more,” he said in a statement shared with TshisaLIVE.
