An enraged motorist has been caught on camera attacking a bus lane camera car - before having a punch-up in the street.

The cameras are being rolled out in West Belfast to catch and fine people using bus lanes designated for the new transport system, according to BelfastLive.

Videos of the attack on Falls Road on Tuesday, show a man jumping on the car's bonnet and windshield, then trying to pull the camera off the top of the roof.

The female driver, who was inside the car at the time, was reportedly grabbed by the throat when she got out of the vehicle. Her colleague, who was monitoring the situation, intervened and a fight ensued in the street with the assailant.

It is the second attack on a bus lane camera in the same street within a month, according to The Irish News. The latest attack happened during a 'risk assessment' being carried out following the previous incident.

"It was reported that damage was caused to the bonnet, roof and windscreen of a car, and a man and woman assaulted, by an unknown male," a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said.

Police are investigating the incident.
