WATCH | Puppy rescued by drone after getting trapped in drain

An engineer from Lucknow, India turned to technology to save a puppy that had fallen down a drain.

NDTV reports that Milind Raj was out for his usual morning walk when he heard a whimper and discovered a puppy trapped in a drain. 

 "It was not possible for a human to rescue the puppy without endangering their own life, so I decided to put technology to the task," Raj told NDTV.

It took him six hours of work, but when he returned to the scene he was ready - as was his drone. The drone had been specially modified to monitor the canine's heartbeat, so as to avoid squeezing too hard as it lifted the poor puppy out of the drain. 

Raj has since adopted the puppy and named it "Lifted".
