President Jacob Zuma's fifth wife, Tobeka Madiba, has been renovating her R8.8-million Durban mansion without approved building plans.

The Sunday Times established on Friday that plans for the renovations had not been submitted to the eThekwini municipality.

Soobs Moonsammy, head of the development planning, environment and management unit, said "the last approved building plan was in 2005".

The building inspectorate had served relevant notices and work on the home eventually stopped, said Moonsammy. - Taschica Pillay, Matthew Savides and Suthentira Govender

The band drew more than 100000 fans during its two shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg, against 99800 who attended the Lady Gaga concerts.
