Six months after her baffling disappearance, the body of a mother of three from Clovelly, Fish Hoek, has been found by the police in a shallow grave at the Strandfontein Pavilion.

Rosemary Theron, 39, was reported missing at the Fish Hoek police station in March.

According to pamphlets distributed in the area, she was last seen on March 7 allegedly getting into a car with an unknown man and did not return home.

Friends became alarmed when she did not show up or call a week later in time for the ninth birthday of her youngest child, with whom she shares a birthday.

Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut confirmed yesterday that Theron's decomposed body had been found.

He said the police had been approached on Thursday by a man who had made a confession about Theron's disappearance.

Three people, aged between 18 and 20, have been arrested. One of them is a woman.

Richard Kraak, a friend of Theron, said yesterday that the family was in shock.

He did not want to confirm that a family member of Theron was among those arrested.

"We've decided not to say anything this week. We want the police to finish their investigation," he said.

Theron was well known in the arts and advertising industry and worked as a professional clown and stilt walker.

She was also a model-maker who made a life-size horse for the Cape Town Carnival in 2011.

Her children are aged between nine and 18.
