8 trendy beauty looks to steal from the runway

At this season's fashion shows, make-up artists and hair stylists looked into the past and imagined the future referencing the best of every era and embracing bold colour

1. THE PAINTED LIP
Skin left completely naked with only a slick of a bold lip colouring was totally acceptable at the shows of Arthur Arbesser, Maison Margiela and Self Portrait.
Super matte, highly pigmented in neon shades precisely applied as if stamped onto the lips is the only pop of colour required this season.
THE KIT:
• Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Metal Lipstick in Iced Out, R330.
• Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick, R120.
• NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, R125.2. GYM HAIR
It's time to whip out that sweated up, two-second workout top knot, even on rest days, as gym hair was the style of choice at Prabal Gurung and Sportmax.
Models skipped the hairdryer on their drenched hair and opted for piecey knots or ballerina-esque buns that exuded effortless cool.3. CHILD'S PLAY
Touches of childhood nostalgia came in the form of conspicuous and whimsical hair accessories that stole our hearts at Chanel, Piccione. Piccione and Max Mara - think oversized satin bows and embellished barrettes glinting through wisps of hair.4. GILDED GAZE
There was a new refinement to the metallic trend as splashes of molten gold, silvers and bronzes seemed to explode over eyes. It definitely was not the free-handed slap-dash application approach as seen in previous seasons but carefully placed all over lids with sharp defined edges and ample shine.
THE KIT:
• Bobbi Brown Longwear Sparkle Stick, R435.
• Inglot AMC Eye Pigment in 22, R299.
• YSL Full Metal Shadow in 05 Steamy Coral, R510.5. THE 80'S
The pop era made a strong comeback at the shows of Tom Ford and Anna Sui with a memo of "bigger and bolder".
Whether you are all about teased-to-the-heavens hair, smudged up blackened lids, overly flushed cheeks or mixing everything together - it's time to have a little fun with this decade.
THE KIT:
• Smashbox Covershot Eyeshadow Palette in Punked, R670.
• Davines Your Hair Assistant Volume Creator Texturising Wood Powder, including Volume Creator Brush, R670.6. GLITTER OVERLOAD
It was very rare that any look this season was left without a little bit of glitter as a finishing touch. The use of our favourite sparkling craft medium was slightly less restrained as glitter was seen on eyes, lips, hair and even faces - no surface was safe and we aren't complaining.
THE KIT:
• Catrice Spectralight Eyeshadow Glow Kit in Manic Pixie Dream Girl, R100.
• Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Moon Spoon, R350.
• MAC Glitter Pigment, R320.7. CREATIVE LINER
The rules of geometry seemed to have left the mathematics class and landed on the runways of Jean Paul Gaultier, Arthur Arbesser and N.21. The traditional black eyeliner coloured between the lines and even out of them as the new way to wear liner was abstract, super graphic and don't forget that colour.
THE KIT:
• Elizabeth Arden High Drama Eyeliner in 05 Midnight Dream, R280.
• Dolce and Gabbana The Khol Pencil in True Black, R350.
• 3INA The Automatic Eye Pencil in 307, R140.8. RETRO REVELATION
It's proving quite hard to let go of the retro elegance of the 1940s as evident at the shows of Erdem and N.21.
The cherry red saturated lips, the cascading retro waves and pinned up curls - we're happy to do it all over again.
THE KIT:
• Inglot HD Matte Lip Tint in 12, R499.
• GOSH Liquid Matte Lips in The Red, R185.
• Chanel La Palette Essentielle, R1,080...
