Linen specialist Volpes has just launched its first printed rug collection offering different designs in muted colours such as charcoal and navy. Their velvety feel and non-slip and light-weight characteristics make for the perfect rug.
Elbe Truter, buying expert at Volpes, gives us a few tips on using rugs to enhance your interiors:
1. BRING COHESIVENESS OR CONTRAST TO A ROOM
Rugs impact on how a space looks and feels and can tie a room together or be a statement piece. Unify a space by choosing your rug in a similar colour or tone to other furniture.
2. ADD LIFE TO "DEAD" SPACES SUCH AS HALLWAYS
Be aware of the pattern and colours you choose, as it will connect other rooms. Placing rugs of a similar style or colour in a hallway and an adjacent space works well for neutral spaces.
3. ADD PERSONALITY TO A SPACE
A rug is one décor item where you can be bold. Reinforce your décor style with the rug you choose. If you can't find one that is big enough, use two (or more) in the same design and layer them at different angles.
4. CREATE "ZONES" IN OPEN-PLAN LIVING SPACES
Choose your rug according to the space. A round dining-room table calls for a round rug, a TV room needs to withstand lots of foot traffic and a patio warrants something hardier...
