MPs gun for public protector

Public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is in a battle for survival as parliament considers instituting proceedings to remove her just as she celebrates a year in the job.
This comes after National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete gave the green light to the DA's request to institute impeachment proceedings against Mkhwebane. Mbete asked the justice portfolio committee to deal with it and report to the assembly.
Mathole Motshekga, the chairman of the committee, indicated that an ad hoc committee was likely to investigate Mkhwebane's fitness for office following a series of blunders by her.
The committee is due to discuss the matter on Wednesday...
