Will you continue to support the DA in the metros?
Yes.
Didn't you threaten to withdraw your support if they didn't remove Helen Zille as premier?
No, that's not true. I never said that.
What did you say?
I said we are going to walk away from what we are doing with the DA in the metros if they are not going to deal with Helen Zille decisively.
Didn't you say you would not be associated with a party that protects colonialism and apartheid?
Absolutely, we said that. We will not be associated with a party that doesn't deal with colonialism and apartheid utterances decisively.
You accused her of making such utterances but she is still the premier.
But now the DA has pulled her into line, made her apologise unreservedly. The party has shown that it has got total control over her, because she was behaving as a free agent and that we were not going to allow.
But she is still the premier.
She was saying she is not going to apologise. They've made her apologise. They've humbled her, they've dealt with her white arrogance. That's enough. We needed them to take some form of action against her and they've done that, and we are moving forward.Isn't the DA a party that protects colonialism and apartheid?
The DA is a party that protects white supremacy and white interests in South Africa. It is a party of whites; we are not confused about that.
But it's a party you're happy to be associated with?
We are not associated with it in whatever way.
You just support it?
We are voting with them in the municipalities to remove kleptocracy and gangsterism which has been in charge of these municipalities for many years. What we are quite clear about as the EFF is that we want to remove these security guards of white monopoly capital called the ANC.
Do you still see the DA as a racist party?
The DA is a racist party; it's a product of colonialism and apartheid. That is why we are not in a coalition with the DA, that's why we are not in an alliance with the DA. But it suits us to vote with the DA to remove the security guards of white monopoly capital. This is our immediate task ...
Isn't the DA the party of white monopoly capital?
That's why we must defeat the defender of white monopoly capital, the ANC, then go for them directly.
Do you think through what you say? Should we take your utterances seriously?
It's your call whether you take me seriously or don't take me seriously. White people don't take black people seriously. I said we will not vote with the ANC, and we did not do that. I am not going to retract now and give power to the corrupt ANC.How do I announce that the ANC stole R17-billion in Transnet, stole R14-billion in Prasa, continues to steal money in Eskom, and at the same time say that the same people must take power? I'm caught here between colonialists and kleptocrats, so what must I do? We have to deal with the kleptocrats who want to eat away the state, and deal with these colonialists. I am not going to allow anything to stop us from taking out the ANC from power.
How hard is it going to be to form a coalition with the DA in 2019 given your fundamental ideological differences?
We gave the DA certain conditions after the local government elections on how we will relate if we go into a coalition. We couldn't find each other because of our ideological stand. Most of those conditions will apply in 2019.
So how will you form a coalition?
We never said we are going to form a coalition with them.
How else will you remove the ANC ... which you say nothing will stop you from doing?
Firstly, the ANC must be removed from power through a popular vote. The people must vote it out. That's the first thing we must look for. Not a coalition as the first move.
If the only way you can remove it from power is through a coalition with the DA, would you go into a coalition with the DA?
We will go into a coalition with a party that agrees to the non-negotiable pillars of the EFF.
Isn't coalition politics about compromise?
Don't think that if we don't compromise there won't be a government. There will still be a government. There can be a similar arrangement we have with them now.
But you won't go into government with them?
We will not go into government with anyone who is not prepared to budge on our cardinal pillars...
