Editorial: Zuma favours the youth - his own youth

President Jacob Zuma simply does not get it. His spirited defence, in parliament this week, of his son Duduzane’s questionable business dealings is further proof that the man is just not fit to hold the highest office in the land.
Instead of addressing the public’s real concerns that Duduzane and his business partners, the Guptas —who also happen to be the president’s personal friends — are abusing their proximity to the head of state and his executive to enrich themselves while destroying state-owned enterprises in the process, Zuma chose to present his son as a victim in this whole state capture affair.
He chooses to see no conflict of interest in the fact that companies in which his son and his partners are shareholders have benefited from doing business with large parastatals such as Denel and Eskom. Instead, he defends Duduzane by saying there is no law in the country preventing him from being involved in business simply because he is the president's son...
