Mampara of the week: Mzwakhe Mbuli

He is known as the People's Poet - but if claims by sports presenter Thabiso Mosia are true, he could be the people's pick-pocket.
Mosia warned the nation this week that the convicted robber must not be allowed anywhere near those organising music legend Ray Phiri's funeral after this Mampara gave a TV interview shortly after news of Phiri's death broke. Mosia tweeted details of how Mbuli allegedly pocketed thousands of rands in donations meant for kwaito star Mandoza's burial.
Mbuli has denied the accusation but failed to respond to direct claims by Mosia - who was present in preparatory meetings for Mandoza's burial, where Mbuli's scam was exposed. Mbuli told journalists that those making the allegations were ungrateful because he fought for their freedom. The only thing more dubious than his defence is his supposed poetry...
